Individual Counseling

What is individual counseling?

Individual counseling is a component of the comprehensive school counseling program which seeks to meet the students' immediate needs and concerns. It is a one-on-one process designed to help students academically, personally/socially, & vocationally. More specifically, these needs may be related to mental health, growth mindset, relationships, goal setting, be class related, etc! The list goes on :)

Students are welcome to request individual counseling by stopping by the counseling office, contacting Ms. Windorff, or by filling out an appointment card! Parents, guardians, teachers, & administration may also refer a student for individual check-ins or counseling.

Individual school counseling is often goal-oriented & short-term! A variety of techniques and strategies are used depending on the student, concerns, & needs. Some strategies may include: Mindfulness, role play, art therapy, journaling, & active listening.
